With hair loss, there are many things people will try to prevent it. These range from medications to lotions to surgery. However, there are essential oils that can keep your hair and scalp healthy, promote hair growth and actually prevent hair loss. These oils are all natural and usually cause no harmful side effects.

Hair loss is common, but it is preventable. There are numerous essential oils that can have a positive effect on hair loss, including stimulating hair follicles promoting hair growth.

An aroma pot by the window

What essential oils can help hair growth?

Aromatherapy is one treatment that is a known hair loss cure. The oils used in this therapy can stimulate hair follicles and help hair growth. The best aromatherapy mixture includes oils extracted from bay, jojoba, cedar wood, grapefruit, and lavender.

Once these oils are mixed, they are massaged into your scalp. Another effective herbal combination is made from aloe, mulberries, brahmi, and honey, again mixed together.

With these aromatherapy treatments, your scalp will then absorb the oils, which will stimulate hair growth.

An additional possible treatment is adding drops of these essential oils into your own shampoo or conditioner. This is a simple process and you can use the following oils:

Basil: stimulates and promotes hair growth and improves scalp circulation.

Rosemary: increases scalp circulation, leading to stimulation of hair growth to prevent premature baldness.

Arnica: a hair rinse used to treat baldness

Sage: used to help reduce hair loss

Bay: actually helps hair grow, add drops to your shampoo and use on a regular basis.

Jojoba oils: healing properties for damaged hair, also prevents hair breakage.

Cypress: although it has many health benefits, hair loss can be related to stress, this oil is has a very calming and soothing effect.

Lavender: can be used as a stress reliever and to prevent dry skin and dandruff.

If these drops of essential oils are not enough, there are scalp massages and soakings that can be done with these various essential oils.

Another great oil for hair loss is olive oil, which has many benefits. It is easily accessible and does not spoil and can be kept just in your kitchen cupboards. How does this help with hair loss prevention? You can give yourself a hot oil treatment to prevent hair loss.

First, take a small bowl of olive oil and heat it, slightly, not to hot. Gently massage the olive oil into your scalp. Once the solution is on your hair, then comb your hair with a wide toothed comb and massage your scalp once more. You should let this solution stay in your hair for one hour. If possible, you can get even better results if you leave it in overnight. Once done, you should rinse the entire solution out and shampoo as normal. With this oil, you will see your hair strengthening. Additionally, with the massaging, you will stimulate your scalp and hair follicle circulation, which will help you hair grow.

The essential oils can keep your hair and scalp healthy and prevent continued hair loss.

Hair loss is an easily treatable condition. There are natural ways to treat hair loss, including the use of essential oils. With these oils, you can either add them to your shampoo or conditioner or make your own massage solution.

Hair loss can be caused by stress, medications, hormones, genetics or any other medical condition, such as a thyroid problem. Aromatherapy and essential oils have been successful in treating thinning hair or baldness.

With essential oils, you can create an infusion treatment or massage oil or you can just add the oils to your shampoo and conditioner for a daily treatment.

Bottled Oils

What essential oils can you use to make your hair grow?

Basil: one of the most beneficial, as it can stimulate and actually promote hair growth. You can use a basil solution to massage your scalp. This improves scalp health and circulation.

Rosemary: is useful for stimulating hair follicles and preventing early baldness from occurring.

Sage: is used to help reduce hair loss

Bay: makes your hair grow. To stimulate your hair, you can simply add three drops of bay oil to your shampoo.

Jojoba oils: these oils can help with healing damaged and breaking hair. You can again use this by placing oils in your shampoo or mixing it with other essential oils to make a massage oil

Cypress: although it has many health benefits, hair loss can be related to stress; this oil is has a very calming and soothing effect.

Lavender: can be used as a stress reliever and to prevent dry skin and dandruff.

So you have all these essential oils, what do you do with them?

As stated, you can place drops into your shampoo or conditioner or you can make your own massage oil.

One possible shampoo recipe is the following:

100 ml shampoo mixed with

15 drops jojoba oil

8 drops carrot oil

7 drops rosemary oil

7 drops lavender oil

2 drops tea tree oil

You will mix these with your regular shampoo and wash as normal. This can help with hair loss, given your scalp healthy so you can possible retain the hair that you have.

Another possible suggestion for a massage lotion to help with hair loss is the following mixture:

100 ml mix of 50/50 rosewater and distilled water

15 ml apple cider vinegar

5 drops rosemary oil

6 drops jojoba oil

3 drops carrot oil

3 drops geranium oil

This can be massaged into your scalp after washing your hair, when it is partly dried. You will only use about 2 teaspoons of the mix, so any leftovers can be placed in the refrigerator for a future use.

There any many other options, but here are some suggestions to start with. There are many essential oils, all of which have certain healing properties. Once you find the right combination, you may be able to replenish your hair and stimulate continued growth.
